LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Examine a sequence for developing assessments for classroom use.
2. Apply principles for developing and analyzing ELA assessments that are valid for classroom use.
3. Create questions that reflect the depth and breadth of CCR ELA standards.
4. Explore ways that teachers can use principles from psychometrics to ensure valid and reliable designs.
ABSTRACT: In this session, learn how two administrators used principles from classroom assessment and large-scale assessment to help teachers design classroom assessments that align with the language arts rigor required in today's College and Career Ready (CCR) standards and ultimately impacts their practice for student learning. In this interactive workshop, participants are introduced to evidence-centered design and the essential characteristics of high-quality items to actively learn how to analyze and write an aligned assessment that supports the three principles of the CCR language arts standards.
