ABSTRACT: Concerns for fairness in the school setting includes students with disabilities, English language learners, and cultural differences. The speakers in this module address these threats to fairness in testing and suggest possible solutions.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Identify the considerations for informative empirical studies of tests adaptations for students with disabilities.
2. Discuss how misunderstandings about the achievement gap and re-norming issues are related to underrepresentation of some ethnic/racial groups in gifted program, special education programs, and college admissions.
