ABSTRACT: In this introductory-level presentation, Dr. Thorndike provides his perspective on a variety of issues in psychological assessment by reflecting on the past and present, critiquing specific practices and theories, describing relevant anecdotes, and speculating about future directions. BIOGRAPHY: Dr. Thorndike obtained his PhD in 1970 from the University of Minnesota. He is known for several definitive textbooks on research procedures and psychometrics. He taught at Western Washington University form 1970 until 2007 and currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus. He is a Fellow in the American Psychological Association, Division 5 and wrote test reviews for four different Mental Measurement Yearbooks published by Buros Center for Testing.
